She refuses to judge anyone badly, always making excuses for people and tending to give people the benefit of the doubt when Elizabeth brings their faults to her attention. Mrs. Bennets first choice in daughters to marry off would be Jane because of her good looks.
Elizabeth is the second oldest daughter in the Bennet family, and the most intelligent and quick-witted. Her honesty, virtue, and lively wit enable her to rise above the nonsense and bad behavior that pervade her class-bound and often hurtful society. She has pride in her abilities to recognize the truth of situations and of people's characters. However, her sharp abilities let her down frequently because she is influenced by vanity and judges people carelessly.
