Participating in various sports has acutely shaped my seventeen years of life for the better both physically and mentally. I have tried so many different sports, especially as a child, to help me find the real me. My mother put me in swimming, tap dance, ballet, cheerleading, karate, and tumbling, and I also tried volleyball and basketball through my own ambitions. But the sport that helped me find my full potential in being able to accomplish whatever I set my mind to was gymnastics. I found this area of work to be my dream job because a sports physical therapist would occasionally visit my gym to help us train, telling us which muscles needed to be toned more to prevent any injuries, and what exercises we should do to accomplish this. How she worked with us really interest me because being a therapist allows work with athletes and athletics as well as help others physically, also due to the fact my mother and many of my family’s friends were nurses. I found through the sports physical therapist and gymnastics that I had already gained much knowledge about muscles, which will aid in the career as far as I have seen through my Certified Nursing Assistant and my Anatomy and Physiology class. Because of gymnastics and who it molded me to become, it has led me to Northern Illinois University, the school that is the perfect fit for me.
